What is the Corner Store Country Run?

The Country Run is a Competitive 5K and 5K Fun Run brought to you by Corner Store that will bring out your inner cowpoke or cowgirl. Participants are encouraged to don over-the-top country attire and gallop, trot or do-si-do their way across that finish line.

Afterwards, everyone is invited to stick around for a family-friendly Post-Race Party with food, drinks, beer (21 and up with ID), free sponsor swag, and country tunes for dancin’. All participants must bring an ID to check in.

Where Do The Proceeds Of The Race Go?

Proceeds from the Country Run will benefit charitable causes, including Big Brothers Big Sisters, the world’s largest donor and volunteer-supported mentoring network making meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), ages 6 through 18, in communities across the globe. Additional funds will be donated to local children’s charities in each city.

Is this a timed event?

Yes, folks who register for the Competitive 5K will be chip timed and eligible for prizes for the fastest thoroughbreds in several categories.

If you’re not lookin’ to clock in a personal record, no problem. Sign up in the Fun Run 5K category if you’re just out to have a rootin’ tootin’ good time. Participants in the Fun Run 5K category will not be chip timed and will begin the race 10 minutes after our racin’ folks get a head start.

What is chip timing?

If you register for the Country Run Competitive 5K, you will receive a bib with an electronic chip that automatically tracks your time. Your chip time will begin when you reach the starting line and end when you cross the finish. To ensure the utmost safety and convenience for all Country Run participants, the Competitive 5K will begin 10 minutes before our Fun Run 5K.

Competitive 5K runners can find their times and rankings at the results tent following the race and will be eligible for awards for the fastest times in several categories.

What are the award categories and prizes?

Of our Competitive 5K runners, three top overall finishers in men’s and women’s categories will win a custom medal. The top three finishers in the following age subcategories will receive a custom medal: 12 and under; 13-15; 16-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70 and over.

Do I Need To Be Some Sweet ’Ole Runner To Do This?

Absolutely not. If you’re just lookin’ to enjoy some good old-fashioned country fun at a leisurely pace, sign up the whole family under the Fun Run 5K category. Y’all can jog, walk, or trot your way through the fun, farm-themed course. Those who want an official time must sign up under the Competitive 5K category upon registration.

Is there an age limit? Is this a kid-friendly event?

Cowpokes of all ages and abilities are welcome to participate in the Country Run. Sign up under the Fun Run 5K category if you’re not lookin’ to run competitively. Participants in the Fun Run 5K will not be chip timed and will begin the race 10 minutes after our racin’ folks get a head start.

The course is stroller-friendly and there will be a Post-Race Party with food, refreshments, and free sponsor swag.

What is the Post-Race Party?

The Post-Race Party has food, drinks, country tunes for boot scootin’, beer for sippin’ (21 and up with ID), and rootin’ tootin’ free backpacks to fill with awesome sponsor swag after you cross that finish line.

Is the Post-Race Party Different from Previous Years?

The Post-Race Party has all the stuff you love most – food, drinks, free backpacks to fill with awesome sponsor swag, country tunes for boot scootin’, and beer for sippin’ after you cross that finish line (this pared-down party no longer includes carnival-style games, face painters or a live band on site).

Tickets to the Post-Race-Party are now free for non-racers who come to cheer on Country Runners.

Can I Come Just To Watch The Race?

Yes you can! We encourage families and friends who aren’t walking or running to cheer on their favorite Country Runners along the course. You may also join your Country Runner at the Post-Race Party at no extra cost.

Can I skip the run and just come to the Post-Race Party?

You sure can! The Post-Race Party includes food, drinks, free backpacks to fill with awesome sponsor swag, country tunes for boot scootin’, and beer for sippin’ (21 and up with ID) after you cross that finish line.

Do You Offer Group Discounts?

Yes siree! Put together a team of 10 or more competitive runners to receive a discount of $10 per person for the chip-timed Competitive 5K. This discount is automatically applied at checkout when all ten Competitive 5K registrations are added to the same shopping cart.

Groups of 6 or more who sign up for the Fun Run 5K can also receive an automatic discount of $10 per person. This discount will be applied at checkout when all 6 Fun Run registrations are added to the same shopping cart. The Fun Run 5K does not include chip timing and will begin 10 minutes after the Competitive 5K begins.

When and where is packet pick-up?

Once you have registered, you can pick up your packet on the day before the race from 11 am to 6 pm or at the venue on race day beginning at 7 am. Be on the lookout for pre-race emails with further details about packet pick up the week of the Country Run.

Can I pick up a packet for someone else?

Yes, just give staff the full name and date of birth of all registrants.

When does registration close?

Online registration will close on the Friday before race day, but you can still register in person at the venue on the day before the race from 11 am to 6 pm, or beginning at 7 am on race day.

Can I get my packet mailed to me?

We are not offering this option at this time. Packets must be picked up in person and cannot be mailed before or after the race.

What do I need to bring?

All participants must bring a valid form of ID. You will need it for packet pick up and beer if you are 21+ years of age.

Are dogs allowed?

You’ll need to leave Old Yeller at home for this one. No dogs allowed on the course.

Will there be food available?

Yes! Everything at the Post-Race Party is free. This includes food, drinks, sponsor swag, and beer for cowpokes 21+ years of age with an ID.

What should I wear?

Yer finest country swagger of course. Throw on some overalls, daisy dukes, cowboy hats and belt buckles cause we’re fixin’ to have some fun and you’ll want to look the part! See some examples of country get-ups, or just watch a few reruns of Green Acres and The Beverly Hillbillies and you’ll get the picture.

What happens if there is bad weather?

A little weather won’t stop us from having a good time. If there are major weather warnings in your city during the weekend of the event, check your city’s event webpage and stay tuned for emails with updates. Registration fees are not refundable in the event of cancellation due to “Acts of God.”

Can I volunteer?

Refunds, Cancellations and Additional Information

  • Refunds will be given up to seven days before a race. To request a refund, send your name, race city, and registration information to info@cornerstorerun.com.
  • Entries are non-transferable.
  • Race Management reserves the right to cancel or modify the event due to unfavorable conditions.
  • Registration fees are not refundable in the event of cancellation due to “Acts of God.”
